About Me
"Every moment of our life can be the beginning of great things.”
- Joseph Pilates
I not only found a silver lining after undergoing major back surgery, but a whole new life path. Following a 12-level spinal fusion for scoliosis in 2009, I stumbled upon the Pilates reformer as part of my physical therapy and was instantly hooked. It quickly became my favorite workout and a catalyst in my healing process, and I credit Pilates for accelerating my recovery and permitting my full return to an active lifestyle despite permanent movement limitations. Inspired by my own transformation, I wanted to help others to achieve similar results — and so began my journey toward becoming an instructor.
I became certified through Pilates Academy International in 2010 and taught my first class a year later. Teaching Pilates began as a side hustle while I worked full-time in marketing, but it quickly morphed into the most fun and fulfilling "job" I'd ever taken on. I eventually decided to pursue Pilates more intently and completed a second comprehensive training at The Pilates Collective in 2024 to further expand my skills and offerings. I believe that alongside the challenges that come with having a “bionic back”, comes an impetus for creativity — and my unique experience has guided my passion for designing exercises for individuals with injuries or restricted mobility. I also love working with people who simply want a challenging yet safe workout! With a hunger for lifelong learning, I am always seeking new ways to further my Pilates education for both my personal practice and for the benefit of my teaching.

What’s in a Name?
Cobalt Pilates is an ode to cobalt, a resilient metal known for its strength and stability — two hallmarks that also happen to be at the core of Pilates. Fun fact: the rods holding my spinal fusion in place are made from cobalt chrome!
